Engineering Students & Recent Graduates

Barton recognizes the benefits of internships for both the firm and the student. As an intern, you will be exposed to the inner workings of our projects—you will become one of the team at Barton Associates during your internship.

 

Requirements for successful interns include:

  • Currently in third year of Engineering studies, but will consider second year students as well.
  • Education and/or experience using REVIT MEP.
  • Intermediate to Master proficiency using AutoCAD.
  • Solid GPA in Engineering discipline .
  • Previous work and/or internship experience related to HVAC, plumbing, and electrical engineering.
  • Commitment to career path in consulting engineering.

 

As a recent graduate, we recognize that the position we hire you for today may not be your ultimate career goal. Employees have multiple technical and management paths to follow with various positions to set as goals. We encourage each individual to pursue his or her interests by providing the opportunities and compensation to allow for career growth within the company.

 

  • Bi-annual performance evaluations with the director of your discipline or department to review your goals, receive feedback about your performance and develop a plan for continued growth. We will work with you to expand your responsibilities and monitor your progress to ensure that you are where you want to be.
  • Opportunities for in-house training and development.
  • Company-paid seminars, conventions and professional society memberships and registrations.
  • An employee mentoring program to pair you with a senior staff member who can assist with your transition into the Barton workforce as well as your career development. In fact, our senior management will work  with you to ensure that you are adequately prepared when you sit for your exam.
  • Opportunity for tuition reimbursement with senior management approval (up to $3,500/year) after 1 year of service.
  • Participation in various meetings including weekly department, project-specific, issue-resolution and quality assurance.
