Barton Education provided mechanical and electrical engineering services to support the complete renovation of approximately 32,000 square feet at the Albright Dining Center. Renovations included a new kitchen and food services equipment, a new servery to reflect current trends in collegiate dining centers , replacement of existing restrooms to support ADA compliance and complete replacement of the fire protection, plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems. Fire protection/plumbing systems renovations included a new fire protection systems, domestic cold and hot water distribution systems, domestic water heating plant, sanitary waste and vent systems and natural gas distribution. HVAC systems renovations included new exhaust and make-up air systems, interface with central campus chilled and hot water systems and new variable air volume four pipe air handling units. Electrical systems renovations included new power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, tele/data, access control and multi-media systems. The entire renovation was completed over the course of one summer and was ready for students upon their return in the fall. This was accomplished through close coordination with the contractor team, owner pre-purchase of capital equipment and an integrated design and construction process.
