About Dana
Dana joined Barton in 2016 and since has served as a project manager at our Raleigh office. He attended the North Carolina State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering.
“I like the fact that I can technically call myself an owner and that it motivates me to provide our clients with the best service.” Stated Dana when asked what he likes the most about the ESOP.
Tell us a little about your family/home life.
I’m Minnesota born with two older siblings. Both siblings and myself moved to North Carolina after falling in love with the coast and mountains. I lived in Wilmington, NC for many years before settling in Durham, NC. My parents and most extended family still reside in Minnesota.

Maynard, MN.
Where did you go to college?
North Carolina State University.
What was your first job in engineering like?
I started out as a draftsman for a small MEP firm in Wilmington, NC. A large portion of our work was tailored toward food service and it was always exciting to visit businesses that I had worked on.
What was the first job you got a physical paycheck?
Landscaping.
How long have you been with Barton?
It will be nearly 8 years.
What does being part of an ESOP mean to you?
It means that I have a greater stake in the success of the company.
What do you love most about your job?
Treating challenges like a puzzle that needs to be put together.
What’s your favorite sport (professional, college, or other)?
Hard to choose between NFL (Vikings) and MLB (Twins).
Favorite pizza topping?
Not really a topping but a good quality pizza margherita all the way.
What’s on your “stranded on a desert island” playlist?
Classic/alternative rock.
What’s the one movie you can watch over and over again?
Shawshank Redemption.
What’s on your bucket list?
A trip to Middle Earth (New Zealand).
Best book you’ve ever read?
Half a Wing, Three Engines and a Prayer.
What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve ever been given?
Do not let yesterday take up too much time today.
