Eric P. Sellers, PE, CPD

About Eric

Eric has been with Barton for over 22 years serving as a Senior Project Manager at our York Office. He attended Messiah University where he earned his Bachelor of Science, in Mechanical Engineering.

When asking Eric what being part of an ESOP means to him, he states, “Being part of an ESOP provides me with ownership in the firm. It highlights the importance of what we do on a day-to-day basis and how that directly affects the success of the firm.”

Tell us a little bit about your life at home.

I have lived in the Lewisberry, PA area for 20 years with my wife, Holly. Holly and I were married in June 2001 after we both graduated from Messiah College. We foster/adopted three boys who are all now grown and out of the house. The house is still filled with our two dogs, one cat, and one turtle.

What’s your hometown?

Manchester, MD.

What was your first job in engineering like?

My first job in engineering was here at Barton. I started my career as a plumbing designer. I had to quickly learn how to use AutoCAD and spent most of my time drafting plumbing layouts, completing riser diagrams, and other design tasks.

What was the first job you got a physical paycheck?

I stocked shelves at a local grocery store that my family owns.

What do you like most about the ESOP?

I like how the ESOP gives more employees an opportunity to participate in maintaining a positive culture in the company. We have several different committees that employees can participate in based on their interests.

How does the ESOP impact you the most?

The biggest impact for me is the additional income that I can expect when I retire.

What do you love most about your job?

I enjoy developing relationships with our clients and my fellow employees. I also really love seeing buildings that I have been part of designing in our community. Over the years I have had an opportunity to design all types of buildings; schools, baseball stadiums, malls, hotels, retail stores, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities.

If I wasn’t an Engineer, I’d be?

I would be a college professor.

Pepperoni.

What’s on your “stranded on a desert island” playlist?

90’s Alternative Rock or Taylor Swift. I like a wide range of music!

What’s your hidden talent?

I can hold my foot with my opposite hand and jump over my leg like a jump rope. At least I used to be able to. Haven’t tried it in a while.

What’s the one movie you can watch over and over again?

Forrest Gump.

What’s on your bucket list?

Travel – Europe, Australia, Africa. There is a lot of the world I would love to see.
