About Ken
Ken serves as the BIM/CADD Manager for the State College Office. He has an Associates Degree in Specialized Technology from South Hills School of Business & Technology and also has a Bachelor of Science in Business Logistics from the Pennsylvania State University.
Ken’s engineering career began at Barton Associates over 12 years ago. He states, “While Barton has always been a family-oriented company, the ESOP transition has seemed to increase it as everyone is working towards bettering themselves which also betters those around them.”
Tell us a little bit about your life at home.
I live in Bellefonte with my wife, Lisa and seven year old daughter, Olivia. We also have an old one-eyed beagle named Scooter and a new kitten, Marley. Our life seems to revolve around our daughter’s love of dance as she is in her second year competing on her dance studio’s team in four styles. All while she is also learning to ice skate in preparation to play hockey in a year or two.
What is your hometown?
Audubon, PA. It is named after the famed ornithologist whose first house in the US was just down the road. I was also in easy biking distance from Valley Forge and spent a lot of time there.
What was the first job you got paid to do?
Babbage’s at King of Prussia Mall (a game store). I took a seasonal job at 15. I finally left them five years later.
Now that Barton is an ESOP what does being part of an ESOP mean to you?
More than ever I feel that my voice and ideas to improve the company are heard.
What do you love most about your job?
I enjoy the unexpected challenges that arise day to day that keeps things feeling fresh, and I like to find ways to leverage technology and software to make the lives of coworkers easier and more efficient. I also love how they forgive me when a few of my ideas don’t pan out as expected!
When I’m not at work I’m doing……
Tackling home improvement projects or planning the family’s next vacation.
What’s your hidden talent?
I can juggle and solve a Rubik’s Cube in just a few minutes.
What’s the one movie you can watch over and over again?
Raiders of the Lost Ark.
What’s on your bucket list?
To visit Australia and New Zealand.
