Ryan C. Davie, EIT

About Ryan

Ryan first joined Barton in 2015 as an Intern and became a full-time Mechanical Designer at our York Office in 2016. Ryan attended The Pennsylvania State University where he earned his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering with an emphasize in Mechanical Engineering.

When asking Ryan what does being part of an ESOP mean to you, he states, “Being part of an ESOP is motivating to know the work you do directly benefits your future. We’re all working as a team and our success as a company is shared as a team.”

Tell us a little bit about your life at home.

My wife, Kaitlyn, and I have a newborn son named Maclan, a cat (Bear), and a lab/border collie mix dog (Hazel). There is never a dull moment in the house. Hazel is essentially our toddler, who is always running around and always wants to play. Bear is essentially our teenager, who likes to be left alone and unbothered until she wants dinner or she sees I’m on a meeting at my computer.

What was the first job you got a physical paycheck?

I worked at a Red Robin as a busboy/server/host/expediter for 5-6 years through high school and college. As much as I enjoyed working there, I will forever be triggered when I hear Adele’s “Someone Like You”. That song used to play over and over and over and over and over again while I was working.

What was your first your job in engineering like?

I spent a summer interning with Penn State’s Office of Physical Plant (OPP) in the Continuous Commissioning Department. I sat at a small desk in Steve Oskin’s office, who was my supervisor for the summer.

How long have you been with Barton?

I have been with Barton for 6 years full-time. 7 years if you count my internship.

What do you love most about your job?

The people. I enjoy getting to work with and communicate with our coworkers and external clients each day.

If I wasn’t an Engineer/Designer/_, I’d be?

A math teacher or something related to the disc golf industry.

When I’m not at work I’m doing……

I’m hanging with my family, playing with my dog, disc golfing, ball golfing, or playing soccer.

Favorite pizza topping?

Meatball.

What’s your hidden talent?

Magic tricks and catching food in my mouth from across a room.

What’s the one movie you can watch over and over again?

Any of the Harry Potter movies.

What’s on your bucket list?

Play in the disc golf world championships. I’ve qualified a few times, but the timing was never right to make the trip.

What’s on your “stranded on a desert island” playlist?

Red Hot Chilli Peppers Radio.
