About Zach
Zach first joined Barton as an intern in 2017 at our State College office and became a full-time Mechanical Designer in 2019. Zach attended The Pennsylvania State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science, in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology.
When asking Zach what he likes most about the ESOP, he states, “I like the fact that the sky is the limit. If everyone buys into the idea that when we work together as a team, we can accomplish great things.”
Tell us a little bit about your life at home.
I’ve lived in Centre Hall, PA my entire life except for when I was at college. My wife Liz and I bought a house in town in April of 2019 and we had a Covid wedding in our back yard May 1, 2021. We have two dogs, one is a 9 year old boxer named Deebo and the other is a 3 year old American Bulldog named Unit.
Where did you go to college?
My college experience was a little different than most. I originally attended Lock Haven University for 2 years studying physics. I then transferred to Penn State York into the Electro Mechanical Engineering Technology Program for a year. I then transferred within the same program to Penn State Altoona where I graduated.
What was your first your job in engineering like?
My first Job was in engineering here at Barton Associates, where I interned during the summer of 2017. It was an experience I greatly enjoyed, and I’ve been here ever since!
How does the ESOP impact you the most?
Being that I entered that ESOP right as it began, I feel like I can have an impact on the ESOP for the duration of my career so that I can get the most out of it.
If I wasn’t an Engineer/Designer, I’d be?
If I wouldn’t have gone to school for Engineering, I would have most likely gone to the Electricians Union.
What’s your favorite sport (professional, college, or other)?
Football, preferably college.
When I’m not at work I’m doing……
You can find me working on / driving cars, fishing, hunting, at the gym, or playing video games.
What’s your hidden talent?
I can clap one handed, with both hands.
Favorite pizza topping?
One of my favorites, which is an unpopular opinion, is a Hawaiian Pizza.
What’s on your bucket list?
When I get older, I would like to buy a beach house down in the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
