About Mike

Mike serves as Barton’s Director of Electrical Engineering – Healthcare and has over 18 years of expertise in electrical systems design and analysis. He is a graduate of Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

Mike recently received the 2022 Certificate of Merit Award for Interior Lighting Design from Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Philadelphia Section for his interior design on the WellSpan Heart and Vascular project.

Tell us a little bit about your life at home.

I live with my wife, two kids (4 & 6), dog and cat.

What’s your hometown?

I was born and raised in Lancaster, PA.

What was the first job you got paid to do?

I was 15 years old and worked as a dishwasher at a local restaurant.

What was your first job in engineering like?

My first job in engineering was also my first of three co-operative educational experiences while at Drexel. I designed power systems and automation for industrial ultrasonic cleaning machines.

What do you love most about your job?

The challenges of complex design projects.

What do you like most about the ESOP?

I like the company culture that is a result of employee ownership.

If I wasn’t an Engineer, I’d be?

A sound/recording engineer or something involved in music.

When I’m not at work I’m doing……

Playing music, working on my house, or playing with my kids and/or dog.

What’s your favorite sport?

NFL Football.

Favorite Pizza Topping?

Mushrooms.

What’s your hidden talent?

I play right-handed guitars as left-handed, so upside-down.

What’s on your bucket list?

To experience Devil’s Pool at the top of Victoria Falls in Africa.
