Connor D. Smith, PE

About Connor

Connor joined Barton in 2025 as a mechanical engineer supporting both our York and State College offices. He earned an integrated bachelor’s/master’s degree of architectural engineering from Penn State University, specializing in mechanical engineering. He obtained his Pennsylvania Professional Engineering License in 2024.

When asked how the ESOP impacts him the most, Connor stated, “Since I have only been at Barton for a few months, I would say the ESOP impacted me the most as being an added bonus to the company’s benefits package that they can offer.”

What was the first job you got a physical paycheck?

I earned my first physical paycheck working at a plant nursery and landscaping supply store in my hometown. I enjoyed interacting with customers and working outdoors.

What do you like most about the ESOP?

What I like most about the ESOP is how it unifies all employees to put their best efforts forward for each other. This results in communal support from all coworkers across the board, because my success and their success are intertwined.

If I wasn’t a mechanical engineer, I’d be?

If i wasn’t an engineer, I’d likely be working in the construction trades as a carpenter, like my father. I was/am lucky to have a dad that loves what he does and who enjoys sharing his craft with his children.
