About Jeff
Jeff is an Accountant with over 40 years of experience serving Barton since 1996. He attended Mount St. Mary’s University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business & Finance.
When asked what he likes the most about the ESOP, Jeff states, “An ESOP creates a more collaborative environment where everyone is motivated to perform their best because we all share in the rewards.”
Tell us a little bit about your life at home.
I live by myself in Hanover, PA. I’m very close with my children, a son who also lives in Hanover and my daughter who lives 3,000 miles away in Arcata, CA. Also, I’m very close with my mother and sister and her family who live in Shillington, PA.
What’s your hometown?
Born at the Reading Hospital, grew up in Shillington, PA.
What was your first job in engineering like?
My first full-time job after college was with Coulson Heel Company, my father’s company that made components for the shoe industry. Among other duties, I helped with the accounting department.
What was the first job you got a physical paycheck?
In the summers when I was in high school, I was a painter and roofer.
What does being part of an ESOP mean to you?
Being an employee-owner means my efforts directly contribute to the success of the company.
How does the ESOP impact you the most?
I enjoy the collaboration and additional financial security that being in an ESOP brings.
What do you love most about your job?
Interacting with all of my fellow employees.
If I wasn’t an Accountant, I’d be?
Something having to do with music.
What is your favorite sport?
Golf is my favorite sport either playing it or watching it on television, especially the major championships.
I’m seldom without?
Music.
When I’m not at work I’m doing……
When I’m not at work I’m usually golfing, listening to music, or spending time in nature.
Favorite pizza topping?
All of them, except anchovies.
What’s on your “stranded on a desert island” playlist?
My playlist would contain a wide variety of music including Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Phish, Frank Zappa, Railroad Earth, Miles Davis, Billy Strings, and too many others to mention.
What’s your hidden talent?
Playing music.
What’s one movie you can watch over and over again?
Lord of the Rings – Fellowship of the Ring.
What’s on your bucket list?
Go to Saint Andrews in Scotland.
When I go to a cookout I hope there’s ________ to eat.
Deviled eggs.
What’s your favorite holiday and why?
Thanksgiving – I like spending time with my loved ones, reflecting on things I’m thankful for and the food.
Have you ever met your idol or someone famous? If so, who?
I have met a lot of my favorite musicians over the years.
Best book you’ve ever read?
The Four Agreements.
What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve ever been given?
Be mindful and live in the present moment.
