About John
John joined Barton in 2023 as a Senior Electrical Designer at our York office. He attended the Tennessee State Technical Institute where he earned a Drafting Technology Certification.

I live with my girlfriend, of over 6 years, and our dog.

Lebanon, PA
What was your first job in engineering like?
Hand drafting at an Electrical Engineering firm in Knoxville, TN. It was hard work and long hours, but I liked it!
What was the first job you got a physical paycheck?
At 15 pumping gas at a station near where I grew up. Way before self-service was a thing.
What does being part of an ESOP mean to you?
Still trying to figure that out.
What do you love most about your job?
The constantly changing codes and requirements continues to keep it interesting.
What’s your favorite sport (professional, college, or other)?
Bicycling.

When I’m not at work I’m doing…..
Hanging out at home, working on things. Bicycling, hiking, kayaking and traveling.
Favorite pizza topping?
Mushrooms.
What’s on your bucket list?
Traveling.
When I go to a cookout, I hope there’s __ to eat.

What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve ever been given?
Find something you like to do and work hard at it.
