Nancy L. Kerlinger

About Nancy

Nancy joined Barton in 2024 as an Administrative Assistant at our York Office.

“I feel it provides more teamwork and & also holds everyone accountable to aim toward the goals of the company because everyone is sharing in the reward.” stated Nancy when asked what being part of an ESOP means to her.

Tell us a little about your family/home life.

I share my home with my Swiss White Shepherd, Koda, who actually rules the house. I have two grown/married daughters and two grandchildren with another one coming soon! Most of my family members live nearby and we love getting together for game nights, local activities, or just having picnics with yard games & lots of laughs. I like doing anything that gets me outside, and like starting my day with a good cup of coffee on the patio watching the many birds, squirrels & bunnies (and sometimes turtles) I attract in my yard. I like biking, hiking, kayaking, camping (again – anything outside), and my one true love that I can never give up is ice cream.

What’s your hometown?

Wrightsville, PA.

What was the first job you got a physical paycheck?

I started working at 12 at my family’s business, but my first paycheck came from the old William Tally House in York where I served food.

What do you like most about the ESOP?

I think it’s great that Barton’s is one of those companies that knows having employee owners provides appreciation and more dedicated staff.

How does the ESOP impact you the most?

There are a lot of things I like about the ESOP, but the most impactful piece of it is the peace of mind that there is “extra” retirement money that you didn’t have to take out of your weekly paycheck to get. It’s just another little buffer for the future.

What do you love most about your job?

Definitely my co-workers and how everyone feels like family here. I also love all the different tasks I get to do in my position.

What’s your favorite sport?

I like attending any type of sports whether it’s football, baseball or hockey. As long as it’s live and not on TV, I’m good for it!

I’m seldom without?

My dog, my friends, and my family.

When I’m not at work I’m doing….

Walking the dog, playing with the dog, feeding the dog, bathing the dog (remember he rules the house). I do get a break once in a while so taking day trips to beaches or mountains, visiting friends and family and spending as much time as I can with my granddaughter.

Favorite pizza topping?

Cheese – just cheese.

What’s on your “stranded on a desert island” playlist?

Well, on an island you would have to have some reggae for beach time, jazz for prepping your coconuts for dinner, worship music to give thanks for the coconuts, classical to relax before bedtime, and of course some country to round it all out.

What’s your hidden talent?

Cake decorating.

What’s the one movie you can watch over and over again?

Weekend at Bernies, oh and of course The Notebook.

What’s on your bucket list?

Travel to most of the U.S. states, learn the “Thriller” dance, and leave a lasting memory for my children and grandchildren.

When I go to a cookout, I hope there’s __ to eat.

Ice Cream.

What’s your favorite holiday and why?

Easter because He is risen.

What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve ever been given?

Honesty is the best policy.
