About Ruben


Ruben is a Senior Electrical Engineer at our Philadelphia office; he has been with Barton since January 2025. Ruben attended Drexel University where he earned an Associate degree in Science, Electrical Engineering Tech.

When asked what he likes most about the ESOP, Ruben shared, “I really like that the ESOP keeps constant communication with all the employees and also pushes programs and learning for employees that are for everyone’s benefit.”

Tell us a little about your family/home life.

My family consists of myself, my wife Vicky Faye, my daughters Vayla and Romina, and my mother-in-law Marilyn.

What’s your hometown?

Palmdale, CA

What was your first job in engineering like?

I had my first engineering internship (Co-Op) with a group called Allen-Sherman-Hoff, which is now Babcock & Wilcox. They designed the systems and UI for clients at coal burning plants to handle the ash that propagates while it is burned.

What does being part of an ESOP mean to you?

Being in an ESOP means to me that my colleagues and I have a large, vested interest in the group’s continued success and presence in the industry.

How does the ESOP impact you the most?

It makes me feel that the decisions and efforts that I make for the group will have an effect that I hope is positive.

What do you love most about your job?

I love being an electrical engineer because I know that electrical power is the most essential system for the population’s way of life. I know for sure that I could not function without power being in my life.

If I wasn’t an electrical engineer, I’d be?

I’d be an Archaeologist studying and interacting with ancient historic pieces and cultures.11

What’s your favorite sport?

American football.

My backpack.

When I’m not at work I’m doing……

Playing with my daughters or watching Korean dramas with my family.

Favorite pizza topping?

Sausage.

What’s on your “stranded on a desert island” playlist?

I’m partying it up with Mr. Saxobeat.

What’s your hidden talent?

I can install a toilet and bidet.

What’s the one movie you can watch over and over again?

Kpop Demon Hunters.

What’s on your bucket list?

Run a marathon.

When I go to a cookout I hope there’s __ to eat.

Kielbasa.

What’s your favorite holiday and why?

Halloween, because my wife and I think up great collaborative costumes to have fun in.

Best book you’ve ever read?

Darklord of Derkholm by Dianna Wynne Jones is my favorite fantasy book.

What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve ever been given?

Remain persistent with your goals and aim high.
