About Steven
Steven joined Barton in 2017 as an CAD Technician and now serves as an Electrical Designer/BIM Manager at our Raleigh office. He is currently enrolled at National University.
“It means that while I’m working for the larger company as a whole, I am also working for myself, I have a vested interest in the company continuing to succeed and grow.” stated Steven when asked what being part of an ESOP means to him.

Tell us a little about your family/home life.
My home life is fairly calm, I spend a lot of my time doing schoolwork, hanging out with my wife or out on the boat fishing.
What’s your hometown?
Apex, NC.
What was your first job in engineering like?
Maple Engineering was actually my first engineering job; I started as the CAD technician and eventually started work as an electrical designer.
What was the first job you got a physical paycheck?
Cashier at Lowes Foods.
What do you like most about the ESOP?
Similar to the above, I like that everyone can see and have a piece of their own success, it’s motivating to keep yourself accountable but also to want to improve the company beyond its current level.
What’s your favorite sport (professional, college, or other)?
I love baseball and football; I grew up in New Hampshire so I’m a big Red Sox and Pats fan.
What’s your favorite holiday and why?
Probably Christmas, with it being so close to my birthday, it’s typically a long break for me and my wife to make time to do the things we like to do.
