Renovation of Beau Hall Maximizes Functionality of Existing Space

Barton Education provided MEP engineering services consisting of complete system replacement at the four-story 30,000 square-foot East College Academic Building at Dickinson College. The building was originally constructed in 1833, then rebuilt in 1970 and houses academic offices as well as classroom spaces.

Design and construction was completed in under 12 months and included installation of a fire protection system, domestic cold and hot water distribution systems, hot water generation, plumbing fixture replacement and accessibility improvements, HVAC system replacement, lighting, power generation and distribution systems, fire alarm and tele/data system replacement.

The HVAC system consists of 4-pipe variable air volume air handling units with hydronic control reheat units located in an accessible mechanical mezzanine in the attic. HVAC system renovations also included connection to central campus chilled water and steam as well as a complete building management system for the East College Academic Building.
