New State-of-the-Art Administration Building for Leisure World
Barton provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design services for a new 24,000 square feet, 2-level administration building in Silver Springs, Maryland.
The building contains a large board room for community meetings, post office, bank, business center, lunchroom, conference rooms, and office space for many Leisure World departments (i.e. sales, human relations, general manager, security, communications).
The HVAC systems include rooftop air handling equipment, central heating systems with gas-fired boilers, and building automation system controls. Design includes complete plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, power & communications systems and services for electric, gas, water, and telecom are coordinated. High-efficiency LED lighting and associated controls were provided for interior and exterior applications. In addition to the administration building, renovations and additions to the adjacent clubhouse were provided to accommodate upgraded entries and expanded seating for multiple dining rooms.
Leisure World is a 610-acre independent living community that is home for over 8,000 residents. In addition to mixed residential development, the site includes a clubhouse, restaurants, golf course, athletic facilities, and medical center.
