We are excited to announce that Barton’s Lauren E. Heisler has recently transitioned to a full-time employee role after completing her internship with the firm.
“I am thrilled to welcome Lauren to Beyond Lux after seeing firsthand the talent, work ethic, and passion for lighting design she brought to Penn State’s Architectural Engineering program. From her strength in the classroom and leadership as a teaching assistant to her thesis recognition and selection as a Besal Lighting Education Fund recipient, Lauren brings the design sensibility, curiosity, and collaborative spirit that will make her a wonderful addition to our studio,” said Shawn D. Good, PE, LEED AP, LC, Director of Architectural Lighting.
Lauren has been with Barton since 2024, serving as an electrical/lighting intern in our State College office. After successfully completing her internship and earning both a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering and a Master of Architectural Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, she accepted a full-time position with Barton.
During her time at Penn State, Lauren completed her AE Team Integration thesis project, which focused on a healthcare facility and involved designing its lighting and electrical systems. This experience further fueled her interest in healthcare design, and her team’s work earned first place at the AE Senior Recognition Banquet.
In her role as an Architectural Lighting Designer, Lauren’s responsibilities will include performing system selection, design calculations, and layouts; conducting equipment research, selection, and specification; and researching code requirements. She will also assist with the preparation of studies, reports, specifications, and opinions of probable construction costs for projects.
