Renovated Apartments in Elizabethtown, PA
Barton is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design services for renovations to eight, 3-story stone apartment buildings in the central Village Green area of the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown. The multi-phase renovations began in March 2025 and will continue through the next few years.
The project will result in revised one and two-bedroom apartments with kitchen, living room, bathrooms, and laundry. Goals for the project include modernizing the aging MEP/FP systems in the buildings surrounding the village quad and upgrading the campus infrastructure systems serving the existing 1920s apartment buildings and central Grand Lodge.
Campus central distribution system upgrades were provided utilizing the existing underground tunnel network connecting the buildings.  The HVAC systems include new apartment fan coil units fed from central heating water system and localized building chillers.  Dedicated outdoor air systems were introduced in the basements of each building to provide ventilation and exhaust air.  Design includes complete plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, power & communications systems modernization. High-efficiency LED lighting and associated controls were provided.

Masonic Village at Elizabethtown is a 1,400-acre retirement community that is home for over 1,900 residents.  In addition to mixed residential development, the site includes restaurants, athletic facilities, cultural center, farm market, gardens, and health care center.
