Posvar Hall at University of Pittsburgh

Posvar Hall Renovation Creates Engaging Space for PittGlobal Studies Hub

Barton Education provided mechanical, electrical and architectural lighting design services for the renovation of Posvar Hall, home of the PittGlobal Studies Hub.

HVAC upgrades included modifications to the existing supply air distribution and hot water radiant heating, replacement of existing perimeter heating equipment/valves, and provision of new control components with floor penetrations being sealed to maintain separation from the garage level below.

New state of the art lighting controls for the affected spaces were designed for energy code compliance and end user flexibility. The project also incorporated a 2-story media wall and an interactive media wall.

The existing waffle slab construction and associated air/electrical distribution were challenges to the project requiring close coordination of the design with the architect to minimize exposed MEP infrastructure and bulkheads so as not to detract from the new finishes and unique lighting fixtures.
