Beaver Community Center at Penn State Berks Expanding
Barton Education provided MEP design and construction services for the Beaver Community Center at Penn State Berks.
This project includes a 50,133 square foot addition and 28,721 square feet of renovations for kinesiology department expansion, as well as expansion of athletic facilities including MAC gymnasium, fitness/cardio center, locker rooms, and athletics offices, and an overbuild addition of a convenience store for the Perkins student center.
Mechanical systems include addition of a fire suppression Mechanical systems include addition of a fire suppression system, high-efficiency domestic hot water heaters and boilers, air-cooled water chiller, and variable volume air handling units. Electrical systems include a 480V/3PH electrical service upgrade, gas-fired emergency generator, LED lighting with occupancy and daylighting controls, telecom, multimedia, access control, surveillance and fire alarm systems.
This project is pursuing LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
