New Innovation Nest for Temple University to aspire students, researchers and the community
Barton Education provided MEP design and fire protection engineering services for the 8,000 square-foot renovation to the 4th floor of the existing Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry to create a new incubator space in Philadelphia, PA.
The Innovation Nest (nicknamed the iNest) is a space dedicated for start-up companies and student entrepreneurs. The iNest includes two biology wet labs, incubator, and cell culture room for genetic sequencing.
Additional space is provided for offices, business centers, conference rooms, presentations, and general collaboration between researchers, students and staff.
MEP scope included full system upgrades including the following: fire protection, domestic hot and cold water, sanitary waste and vent, acid waste, compressed air system, vacuum system, variable air volume (VAV) air handling unit fed from existing building central chilled/heating water systems, building management system, power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, life safety systems, and tele/data systems.
